Our Story,

Hi,

I am Colm, my wife is Marie  and we are the proud owners of Tour House. We are delighted that you have taken the time to consider our Home for your next break away, and hope that you will end out booking Tour House. I just wanted to give you a little background on the house and how it has become a Short Term Rental property.

Built in 2000, this property served as our family home for nearly 13 years before emigrating to Australia.

Here we brought up our 3 children, who have fond memories of living here surrounded by nature and playing care free in this quiet corner of  Waterford. It hold’s so many precious memories for us that we could never bring ourselves to sell the property.

Currently we are in the process of returning the property to it’s former glory, after long term renters let the house fall into diss-repair and neglect. We returned home last year on a holiday after being away for many years, and we were shocked and disappointed by what we saw, our hearts sank. However after some thought and research we decided that switching from Long-Term rental to Short-Term holiday stays and hiring a property manager would be a better option for us. This would allow us to have more control over the property, how it is cared for and how it is maintained. We would also be sure it meets a standard that suits us and provides you with a beautiful base for you to enjoy your well earned break.

So after some hard work and repairs the house is now a completely different picture to what we seen last year. Maintenance now occurs when it is required, and we are also in the process of upgrading and replacing wear items before they reach the end of their lifespan. All of this is helping to return the house to it’s former self and allowing you to enjoy the best possible experience that this house has to offer.

Our Daughter and her partner returned “Home” earlier this year, She would be the first family member to stay in the house for 11 years. As she walked through the door her emotions overtook her as all the memories came flooding back. She described the feeling as surreal and completely enjoyed the experience.

The dream is that one-day we will return to the house that we continue to refer to as “Home” when our emigration story reaches it’s conclusion.
